Mounties Fall Short, 5-4, at New York
|
The Vancouver Mounties could not turn a fine performance from right fielder Tim Hummel into a win. Instead, the New York Nightmare prevailed, 5-4. Hummel was 2 for 3 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Jose Contreras, the winning pitcher, is now 4-1. He went 7.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits, while fanning 3 and walking 2. The Nightmare are now 26-29, while the Mounties fall to 26-29.
Had Brady Louis not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Louis hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Nightmare.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Louis.
