Miami Dismisses Cincinnati, 6-4
|
Miami and Cincinnati duked it out and the Boll Weevils came out victorious.
The Miami Boll Weevils defeated the Cincinnati Bombardiers, 6-4, in Western AA action at Ballpark of Cincinnati. Miami pitcher Steve Flynn had a standout performance. The win belonged to Eric Willhite in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Jose Paredes took the loss for Cincinnati.
Javier Tarango, who is tied for 5th in the W-AA in doubles with 13, aided the Miami cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the first. For the game, the third baseman was 1 for 3.
"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Miami manager Bill Murtha.
The victory puts Miami at 16-35.
