The Augusta Capitols topped the Cincinnati Bombardiers, 10-2, with designated hitter Nick Owens playing a big role. Owens went 3-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3 for the Capitols in the win. Augusta is now 29-19, 3 games up in the Western AA Coastal Division.
The Capitols got a big hit from second baseman Victor Garcia. Facing Cincinnati pitcher Jesse Eves in the top of the sixth, Garcia pounded a bases-clearing double to left. His 5th double of the season put the Capitols ahead, 7-0.
"We didn't put our best foot forward tonight," said losing manager Carlos Almendarez.
