St. Louis Loss Tarnishes Fine Game by Pryor
The Hialeah Firecats besoiled an otherwise fine performance by St. Louis shortstop Corey Pryor by beating the Cavalry, 8-6, at Cavalry Ballpark. Pryor was 2 for 2 with 2 home runs and 3 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Dermot Howe earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. His record is now 2-3. Armando Salas finished to wrap up his 9th save.

Hialeah used the timely hitting of Phil Verhaeghe to capture the win. The right fielder stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Firecats on top, 8-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but he made it count.

"We'll take this win and move on," said Verhaeghe.

Hialeah, with the win, is 16-33.
