Firecats Come Back Late to Top Tigers, 6-4
|
The Hialeah Firecats topped the London Tigers, 6-4, in Western AA action at Ballpark of Oklahoma City. The standout performance belonged to Hialeah pitcher and Albany, New York, native Chris Mueller. Hialeah reliever Francisco Elizalde snagged the win, upping his record to 2-3. David Cavalluzzi shouldered the loss. Humberto Lopez recorded his 8th save for Hialeah.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Eric Adkin? The slick-fielding center fielder Adkin stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put Hialeah up, 6-4. For the game, he was 3 for 6, including 1 double and 2 singles.
Hialeah manager Garrett Ubersox commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
The win puts Hialeah at 18-30.
