The Syracuse Scorpions trumped the Charleston Sea Dogs, 4-3, at Scorpion Stadium. Syracuse third baseman Javier Tarango was terrific. He was 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. Syracuse reliever Carlos Mejia picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Ken Allbaugh was saddled with the loss. John Landgren earned the save for Syracuse, his 4th.

Had Donovan Widmer not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Widmer hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Scorpions.

"I like what I saw today," said Syracuse manager Dustin Brewer, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."

Yes, it was a win for Syracuse; but their 17-38 record is still nothing to boast about.
