Charleston Topples Cincinnati, 8-6
|
The Charleston Sea Dogs beat the Cincinnati Royals by a score of 8-6. Charleston designated hitter Tim Hutchison deserved the lion's share of the credit. Hutchison was 1-1 with 3 walks for the Sea Dogs. Andy Weatherholt, who won the Rookie of the Year Award in 2021, was the winning pitcher. Over 5.2 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts. Shane Kidd was credited with the save for Charleston, his 2nd of the season.
In the bottom of the fifth, Charleston third baseman Dusty Anderson had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Anderson stroked a 2-run single to right. It made the score 7-4, Charleston. For the game, he went 1-4, while adding 2 RBI.
"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Anderson.
The Sea Dogs raised their record to 4-2.
