Heathens Beaten By Royals, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Cincinnati Royals and the Halifax Heathens, Mickey Ferrell, who finished 5th in the NC in saves with 23 in 2017, proved to be the difference. The Cincinnati right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-1 Royals win. Cameron Hutchinson wrapped it up, recording his 1st save. With the win, Cincinnati pushed its record to 29-24.
Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Jorge Guzman to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Royals on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Guzman, "and then get after it again."
