The Halifax Heathens weathered an outstanding game by Austin first baseman Jim Sykora to topple the Desperados, 7-6. Sykora hit 2 home runs. The winner was Jonathan Allen, who threw 94 pitches over 6.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 5 runs on 8 hits. The American Conference South Division-leading Heathens have a record of 37-14.

Halifax shortstop Leo Orozco contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 55th hit of the season and put the Heathens ahead, 6-5.

"We've got a great group of guys," Orozco said, "and we're having fun right now."
