Gladiators Stick Dragons with 4-1 Loss
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Phoenix Gladiators and Dallas Dragons.

The Phoenix Gladiators wanted a good start from Rob Alvarez -- and he delivered one. The result was a 4-1 Phoenix win over the Dallas Dragons at Gladiators Ballpark. Manny Brant collected save number 21.

The Gladiators got a big at-bat from third baseman Ton Ariëns. For the game, Ariëns went 1 for 2 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 11th home run of the season gave Phoenix a 4-1 lead.

"I thought we played a nice game," Ariëns told the Phoenix Observer. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."

Today's win puts Phoenix at 33-18, while Dallas falls to 24-27.
