The San Francisco Fire got a sterling performance from pitcher Tom Tchida, but the Vancouver Caribou still prevailed, 4-2. Tchida threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball. The winner was Kevin Weber in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Shane Edwards took the loss. The Caribou, at 28-22, lead by one game in their division.

Ray Branson came through with a big-time hit for Vancouver. The pinch hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"What we get, we earn," Branson told the Vancouver Observer.
