San Francisco Bats Go Silent in 5-0 Loss
The San Diego Fleet went home winners at San Diego Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Carlos Mendez. Mendez stifled the San Francisco Fire, enabling San Diego to grab the 5-0 win. Mendez got the win, improving to 1-6. He gave up 3 hits and walked 3 over 6.1 innings. He allowed no runs. The third-place Fire now sit at 22-28.

Luis Perales contributed to the San Diego win with a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the second baseman had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 2 runs scored, and 1 run batted in.

"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Mendez. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
