Bobby Nowlin, who is tied for 7th in the AC with a 2.97 ERA, was terrific for the Chicago Gangsters in his team's 4-1 triumph over the Syracuse Scorpions. His performance earned Nowlin rave reviews. In 8 innings, Nowlin surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Keith Kramer earned the save for Chicago, his 2nd.

Hector Alvarez chipped in a 2-run home run for Chicago in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
