At Estadio Azteca, the Halifax Heathens and Austin Desperados were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

The Austin Desperados besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Halifax catcher Bruce Richards by beating the Heathens, 8-5, at Estadio Azteca. Richards went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Austin reliever Jimmy Harris was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Jack Ivory.

Eric Bradstreet helped his team take an early lead with a 2-run single. It came in the first inning, making the score 4-0, Desperados.

Austin manager Adam Ponder was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.

Austin is in second place in the American Conference South Division with a record of 32-18.
