The Austin Desperados got a stellar performance from pitcher Joe Townsend, who handcuffed the Halifax offense en route to a win, 2-1, at Estadio Azteca. The winner was Austin reliever Felipe Moreno, now 1-0. The loser was Ross Lefkowitz. The Desperados go to 22-28, putting them third in the American Conference South Division.

Austin used the timely hitting of Ramon Dozal to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Desperados on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Wins don't come easy," Townsend told the Austin Times. "They don't just hand them out like lollipops."
