Shiners Need Extra Frames to Get Past Brawlers
|
Shiners second baseman Chris Franklin left his mark on his team's 9-5 win over the Cleveland Brawlers. Franklin, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2018 draft, went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs for Charleston in the contest. Charleston reliever Donovan Mott picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Josh McQuaid was saddled with the loss. The win gives Charleston a season record of 27-22.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher William Corrado came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Cleveland pitcher Josh McQuaid, he hit a 2-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Charleston on top, 6-5.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said Cleveland manager Jason Weber.
