The Cincinnati Royals beat the Vancouver Caribou, 7-6, in part because of left fielder Eric Hayes. He was 4-5 with 3 doubles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Miguel Leon, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-4. He allowed no runs on 9 hits in 3.2 innings. The Royals now own a record of 23-26.

Hayes had a game-changing double in the top of the seventh. On a 2-2 fastball from Joel Edmondson, he banged a run-scoring double to center, giving the Royals a 7-6 lead. It was the 12th double of the year for Hayes.

Hayes told a Cincinnati Bulletin reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
