Eagles Knock Off San Diego, 3-1
|
Indianapolis used a superb performance from starting pitcher John Hennig to down the San Diego Fleet, 3-1. At 29-19, the Eagles find themselves in first place in the National Conference North East Division.
The Fleet had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Eagles going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old left fielder Jerry Robinson came to the plate. Robinson hit a solo home run on a 1-0 fastball from San Diego hurler Corey Gruver. It was Robinson's 9th home run of the year.
Robinson attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
