Knights 1B Kehlenbeck Gets the Cycle
|
In an outing that will go down in the annals of league history, Notre Dame High School first baseman John Kehlenbeck hit for the cycle, as the Knights marched to victory over the North Oconee High School Titans, 10-7.
Kehlenbeck collected 4 hits in 4 at-bats, including 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run. He added 5 RBI and 3 runs scored to help Notre Dame High School take the North Oconee High School Stadium contest.
"It was the last thing on my mind, really," Kehlenbeck said. "I'm out there trying to get a blooper or a walk or whatever might help the team. Even if I had wanted to, hitting for the cycle is probably as much about luck as about skill anyway."
John Kehlenbeck walked in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Jared Creaney in the 6th, hit a three-run triple in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
Looking at his present stats, Kehlenbeck has compiled a .526 batting average in 14 games with a .591 on-base percentage, while hitting 8 home runs and driving in 25 runs.
