Thanks in large part to shortstop Glenn Valentine, the Detroit Giants beat the Carolina Reapers, 10-3. Valentine was 2-5 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Phil White earned the win to go to 3-5. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts in 7 innings of work. With the win over Carolina, the Giants improved to 28-18.

With Detroit leading 6-3 in the top of the ninth, Valentine hit a changeup from Danny Orfila for a grand slam home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Giants ahead, 10-3.

"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Valentine.
