Caribou Topple Royals, 4-2

The Vancouver Caribou topped the Cincinnati Royals, 4-2, in National Conference action at Mounties Field. The standout performance belonged to Vancouver pitcher and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native Alex Martinez. Martinez yielded 2 runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 3-3. Earning his 1st save for Vancouver was Sean Ryan.
Chris Dellinger went 1 for 3 with a hit by pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once against the Royals. In the bottom of the first inning, he hit a 2-run single, putting Vancouver in front, 2-0.
After the game, Vancouver manager Pete Clark applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
The Caribou are now 24-21.
