Fire Lose By a Run at Maine
The San Francisco Fire and Maine Pines provided some drama for the home crowd.

Jose Valverde led Maine to a win over San Francisco. The final score was 6-5. Valverde scored 2 times, while going 3 for 4. The shortstop also totaled 2 RBI. The win was credited to Matt Williams in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Chris Verellen took the loss. Cameron Hutchinson earned the save for Maine, his 7th.

The game turned with two out in the bottom of the sixth. That's when Valverde hit a run-scoring single off Chris Verellen. It propelled the Pines into the lead, 6-5.

"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Valverde told the Maine Today.

Their 27-18 record puts the Pines first in the National Conference North East Division.
