Shiners Score Late, Topple Marauders, 6-3
|
Philadelphia got a valiant performance from pitcher Barry McLamb, but it wasn't enough to beat the Charleston Shiners. Charleston won the game, 6-3. McLamb threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Brian Aldridge, now 4-0, was credited with the win in 3.2 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. The Shiners, at 23-21, have now won 4 straight.
Charleston got a knockout punch from Tim Hutchison. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"We couldn't have scripted it any better," Hutchison said in his postgame press conference.
