Gladiators Drop Whistlers, 7-6
Phoenix beat Boston at Gladiators Ballpark, escaping with a 7-6 win. The win in large part was due to left fielder Ben Figueroa. He was 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Moises Cruz, who is tied for 2nd in the AC in wins with 6, was the winning pitcher. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. Manny Brant nailed down the save.

With Phoenix leading 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Figueroa hit a fastball from Pat Wilber for a 3-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Gladiators ahead, 7-2.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Phoenix manager Brett Bartlett.

By defeating Boston, the first-place Gladiators improved to 29-15.
