Carolina Loses, 11-8, Despite Phillips Exploits
Carolina first baseman Bobby Phillips pounded Fountain Hills 23ers pitchers at Fountain Park, but it was not enough to keep the Reapers from falling, 11-8. Phillips slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. The 23ers raised their record to 21-23.

Brad Stein cracked a home run off Paul Mitchell in the bottom of the seventh. His 2-run blast put the 23ers on top, 9-8. In all, Stein had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said 23ers manager Efren Nieman. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
