Whistlers Drop 6-4 Decision
|
The Austin Desperados knocked off the Boston Whistlers, 6-4, in American Conference action at Dell Diamond. Austin pitcher and East Lake, Florida, native Joe Townsend had an outstanding performance. The winning pitcher was Townsend, now 6-1. He tossed 6.1 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. Austin now sits at 29-15, while Boston falls to 22-22.
John Austin, who finished 5th in the AC in triples with 7 last year, chipped in a 3-run home run for Austin in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Townsend.
