Trash Pandas Suffer One-Run Loss at San Diego
|
In a low-scoring contest between the San Diego Fleet and the Toronto Trash Pandas, Takeji Takano was the X factor. The San Diego left-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. San Diego reliever Brad Antol snagged the win, upping his record to 1-1. Jeremy Gray shouldered the loss. Bobby Corbo was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
Had Ed Woodside not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Woodside hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Fleet.
"When Takeji is on, he can really move the ball around," said San Diego manager Brian Burnett.
The first-place Fleet are now 27-16, the Trash Pandas 24-19.
