Despite a fine performance by third baseman Steve Ross, the San Diego Fleet lost to the Toronto Trash Pandas, 6-5. Ross went 3-6 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Tom Mott notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. His record now sits at 2-4. The third-place Trash Pandas have won 6 straight.

D.J. Van Diest came through with a big-time hit for Toronto. The right fielder smacked a solo home run in the top of the 12th inning to give his team the lead, 6-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Our team showed some resilience," said Van Diest.
