New York Dispatched, 4-2, by Charleston
|
Charleston pitcher Matt Schapp had a large part in his team beating the New York Nightmare, 4-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Schapp, the winner, moves to 3-1. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 3 walks. The loss makes New York 21-21.
Charleston used a clutch at-bat from Ryan Ward to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Sea Dogs ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Winning never gets dull," said Ward.
