Caribou Snatch Late-Game, 2-1 Win
|
The Vancouver Caribou had to overcome a fine effort from San Diego pitcher Rodrigo Lemus to win, 2-1, at Mounties Field. Lemus went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Vancouver's record now stands at 66-62, placing them second in the National Conference West Division.
Richard Ulmer played the role of hero for Vancouver. In the bottom of the ninth, he launched a solo home run off Travis Erb to win the game. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was the decisive blow.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Brian Burnett.
