Daytona Beach second baseman Eric Kraft played a vital role in his team's 10-1 conquest of New York. He was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 8 RBI and scoring twice for Daytona Beach. Alan Champagne, who is tied for 2nd in the NC in complete games with 1, was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 1 run on 3 hits, with 4 walks and 7 strikeouts. Steve Dunham wrapped it up, recording his 1st save.
With Daytona Beach leading 6-1 in the bottom of the eighth, Kraft batted against New York pitcher Sean Foye. Kraft hit a changeup to left for a grand slam home run. His 21st home run of the season put the Sea Turtles on top, 10-1.
Said losing manager Tyrone Hairston: "The list goes on and on of things we just flat out didn't do."
The losses continue to mount for New York, which has now dropped 8 in a row.
