Both teams had their chances, but the Mexico City Aztecs eventually prevailed.

The 7-6 Mexico City win over Maine was due largely to Philip Couillard. The Aztecs third baseman was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 runs. The win belonged to Sean Ryan in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Chris Hames took the loss for Maine. Jeff Cox picked up his 32nd save of the season.

The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Danny Velasquez came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Maine pitcher Chris Hames, he hit a 1-1 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Mexico City on top, 7-6.

"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Velasquez said in reaction to the win.

Mexico City, at 72-55, sits in second place in the National Conference West Division.
