Shiners Handed 4-3 Loss by Giants
|
Detroit beat Charleston at Ballpark of Charleston, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to first baseman Travis Collier. He went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner in relief was Bobby Corbo. He is now 2-3. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. Devin Wickliffe was called on to finish, recording his 37th save.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jalen Joyner? The former first round draft pick Joyner stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Detroit up, 4-3. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Collier said.
Detroit is now 61-65. Charleston is 70-56.
