Halifax and Syracuse duked it out and the Heathens came out victorious.

Julio Herrera impressed in the 7-4 Halifax win over Syracuse. Herrera, who is tied for 6th in the AC with a .388 on-base percentage, went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs. The winner was Efrain Gutierrez, who threw 92 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 9 hits.

The Heathens got a big at-bat from first baseman Tony Vela. For the game, Vela went 1-4 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 20th double of the season gave Halifax a 3-2 lead.

"Nervous? No," said Vela. "It was my time to shine."
