Fleet Stumble, Lose to Eagles
Good production from first baseman Mark Payne helped the Indianapolis Eagles topple the San Diego Fleet, 8-3. Payne was 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for the Eagles. Rodney Caporn got the win, improving to 2-0. He held the Fleet to no runs on 3 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 7. The third-place Eagles now sit at 65-61.

With Indianapolis leading 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh, Payne hit a curveball from Rodrigo Lemus for a run-scoring triple. It was his 1st triple of the season and put the Eagles ahead, 5-3.

"I keep on showing up every day and trying to put up good at-bats and find good pitches to hit," said Payne.
