Gladiators Rally Late to Clip Boston
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Phoenix Gladiators and the Boston Whistlers, pitcher Mike Walsh was the difference between victory and defeat. The Phoenix left-hander earned kudos in the 3-2 Gladiators win. Phoenix pitcher Ryan Robertson earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Josh Becker suffered the loss. The first-place Whistlers now sit at 72-53.
Gabriel Crear was the walk-off hero for Phoenix. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Gladiators pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"You have to win 1-0, 3-2, 2-1 games if you want to get to where you want to go," said Gladiators manager Brett Bartlett.
