The Charleston Shiners pasted the Detroit Giants with a convincing 18-3 defeat at Ballpark of Charleston. Juan Ortiz was a prime factor in the Charleston win. He went 3 for 5 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 6. Josh Reed, credited with the win in relief, is now 13-5. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in 6.2 innings.
