The Syracuse Scorpions and Phoenix Gladiators provided some drama for the home crowd.

The Phoenix Gladiators defeated the Syracuse Scorpions, 6-5, in American Conference action at Scorpion Stadium. Phoenix pitcher Bob Rehm had a standout performance. In 5.2 innings, Rehm surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run.

In the top of the seventh, Phoenix third baseman Ton Ariëns had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and two out, Ariëns stroked a run-scoring single to left-center. It made the score 6-1, Phoenix. For the game, he was 2 for 5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.

"We came out on top and that's all I can ask for," said Rehm.

Today's win puts Phoenix at 60-64, while Syracuse falls to 51-73.
