Desperados Get Past Chicago for 3-2 Win
In a low-scoring contest between the Austin Desperados and the Chicago Gangsters, Luke Scrimger, who finished 2nd in the AC in ERA with 2.89 in 2023, proved to be the difference. The Austin left-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 Desperados win. Reliever Ethan Yarbrough picked up the win. His record improves to 6-2. Chris Zich took the loss. Joe McLaughlin got the save, the 28th for him this season.

Leo Serna dealt the Gangsters a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with the bases loaded and Austin leading 1-0, Serna, who led the AC in extra base hits with 94 in 2018, hit a 2-2 curveball for a run-scoring single.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Chicago manager Antonio Valdez. "The effort was great."

The Desperados improved their record to 70-54 by beating Chicago.
