The inspired effort of Dallas catcher Sean Lovelady was not enough to prevent a loss, 10-7, to the Syracuse Scorpions. Lovelady went 3-3 with 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Syracuse starter Chris Dries was credited with the win after throwing 98 pitches over 5.2 innings. His record now stands at 5-13. Elijah Miller picked up the save for Syracuse, his 27th of the year.
Matthew Anders had a key at-bat with one out in the top of the first for Syracuse. With the bases loaded and the Scorpions leading 1-0, he grounded out, driving in 1 run.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Anders.
Syracuse, now 45-79, holds down last place in the American Conference Central Division.
