Aztecs Shut Out Trash Pandas, 3-0
|
Behind an impressive start by Jay Sikora, Mexico City beat Toronto, 3-0. Jeff Cox, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 31st save. Mexico City, at 70-54, occupies second place in the National Conference West Division.
In the bottom of the second, 28-year old center fielder Jim Dauphin hit a 2-run home run. The 12th home run of the season for the Mexico City center fielder put the Aztecs on top, 2-0.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Toronto skipper Walt DeRosier, "and it cost us."
