Scorpions Score Late, Topple Gladiators, 8-5
|
The home team was supported by a raucous crowd at Scorpion Stadium.
Phoenix left fielder Ben Figueroa had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Figueroa was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3, even as Syracuse beat the Gladiators, 8-5. The Scorpions improved their record to 51-72 with the win over Phoenix.
Paul Inman contributed to the Syracuse win with a 2-run single in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Syracuse manager Josh Gifford.
