Indianapolis Nets 2-1 Win Versus Fire
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Indianapolis Eagles eventually prevailed.
The Indianapolis Eagles, behind a great outing from Nick Horrocks, who is tied for 2nd in the NC in complete games with 1, defeated the San Francisco Fire, 2-1, at San Francisco Grounds. Indianapolis reliever Greg Camarillo snagged the win, upping his record to 7-3. Scott Hargraves shouldered the loss.
Indianapolis won the game in part because of Victor Mendez. The third baseman ripped a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Eagles ahead, 2-1. For the game, Mendez had 2 doubles and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"It wasn't easy, but we got it done," said Mendez.
The Eagles improved to 75-48.
