Daytona Beach took on New York in front of a lively crowd.

Daytona Beach pitcher Mal Burkes did his part in helping his team beat the New York Nightmare, 7-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. John Wicken closed it out for Daytona Beach, earning his 3rd save.

Daytona Beach relied on the bat of Clark Owens to get the win. The left fielder produced a run-scoring ground out in the top of the third inning to put the Sea Turtles ahead, 3-1. For the game, Owens had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Daytona Beach manager Ken Bennett.

Daytona Beach's record now stands at 53-69, placing them third in the National Conference South Division.
