The Carolina Reapers wiggled past the New York Nightmare, 3-2, in 10 innings at Reedy River Stadium. The win was highlighted by the performance of Carolina pitcher Steve Cates. Carolina reliever Chris Bruhl got the win, raising his record to 2-6. Tony Rosario was tagged with the loss. With the win, the Reapers have a record of 53-68.
The Reapers got a clutch hit from second baseman Tom Krueger. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Reapers.
Said Carolina manager Julio Rodriguez: "Steve came into the game mentally strong. He dominated."
