Desperados Win at Chicago, 5-2
|
Sam Campos, who led the AC in ERA with 2.68 last year, was locked in. The left-hander led the Austin Desperados to a 5-2 win against the Chicago Gangsters at The Hideout. Campos, now 15-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 9, walking 4, and allowing no runs. Picking up the save was Bob Baucke, his 31st.
Austin used the hitting of Brent Hansen to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Desperados on top, 2-0. For the game, Hansen had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
Austin manager Adam Ponder commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
With the win over Chicago, the Desperados improved to 69-52.
