Gonzalez Lifts Gladiators to 7-3 Win
|
The Phoenix Gladiators beat the Syracuse Scorpions, 7-3, at Scorpion Stadium. Victor Gonzalez, in particular, was impressive. He went 3-4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Phoenix is third in the American Conference South Division with a record of 56-65.
Gonzalez had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 1-2 sinker from Eric Willhite, he banged a 3-run home run to right-center, giving the Gladiators a 4-3 lead. It was the 27th home run of the year for Gonzalez.
"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Gonzalez told the Phoenix Bulletin.
