Marauders Down Shiners, 3-2
|
The Philadelphia Marauders did just enough to sneak past the Charleston Shiners, 3-2, at Ballpark of Charleston. Philadelphia pitcher Sergio Penichet, in particular, had a standout performance. Philadelphia reliever Vince Mellon picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Shane Kidd absorbed the loss. Philadelphia is now 75-46, 8½ games up in the American Conference North East Division.
Philadelphia used the timely hitting of Joel Thompson to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Marauders on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Our team showed some resilience," said Thompson.
