Sea Turtles Lose to Marauders, 9-5
|
The Philadelphia Marauders trumped the Daytona Beach Sea Turtles, 9-5, at Leatherback Park. Philadelphia third baseman Chris Goldsmith was terrific. He was 2 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Pat Payne, who went 6.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 5 runs on 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 8. His record now stands at 10-4. Justin Erim closed the door for Philadelphia, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
Early in the game, Goldsmith had a grand slam home run for Philadelphia. It was his 13th home run of the season and put the Marauders on top, 4-0.
"I like our mindset right now," said Philadelphia manager Danny Ordaz.
The second-place Marauders have won 4 in a row.
