Gladiators Earn Clutch Win, 8-7
The Phoenix Gladiators stopped the Syracuse Scorpions, 8-7, in 10 innings at Scorpion Stadium. The Gladiators got a big game from Ryan Atkins, who was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. Alpha Fields closed it out for Phoenix, earning his 1st save. The Gladiators, at 52-68, sit in last place in the American Conference South Division.

The game was all tied up in the top of the tenth, until Atkins delivered big-time for Phoenix, stroking a dramatic solo home run off Ken Allbaugh. The game-changing hit put the Gladiators on top, 8-7.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Atkins, "one at-bat at a time."
