In a low-scoring contest between the Syracuse Scorpions and the Phoenix Gladiators, Chris Dries was the X factor. The Syracuse right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Syracuse reliever Ken Allbaugh was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Oscar Malave. The Scorpions sport a record of 43-76.

Billy Totten had a critical at-bat with one out in the bottom of the eighth for Syracuse. He came through with a 2-run single to put Syracuse in front, 2-1.

"It feels good to get this one," Totten told the Syracuse Gazette.
