Charleston Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
The Fountain Hills 23ers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Curtis Gring into a win. Instead, the Charleston Sea Dogs prevailed, 6-5. Gring threw 6.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Charleston reliever Mario Barillas picked up the win, upping his record to 3-4. Tom Mott was saddled with the loss. The Sea Dogs, at 79-39, have a comfortable 23-game lead in their division.
Charleston got a clutch hit from Charlie Paquin. The shortstop launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.
"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Paquin said.
