Giants Earn Late 4-3 Win
Oakland got a valiant performance from pitcher Randy Fischer, but it wasn't enough to beat the Detroit Giants. Detroit won the game, 4-3. Fischer threw 8.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Detroit reliever Tony Wooten picked up the win, upping his record to 2-4. Wade McGonigle absorbed the loss. Lee Maher closed out the game, earning his 30th save.

Jason Coppa came through with a big-time hit for Detroit. The pinch hitter smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

Coppa offered a curt "no comment" when asked to discuss the win after the game.

Detroit now has a record of 62-56 with the win.
